For an unbelievable reason, a man has left people in shock after he pushed his lovely wife into the canal to die.
An Indian man has killed his wife by pushing her into a canal on the pretext of taking a selfie. The wife identified as 24-year-old Ayesha did not survive.
According to reports, Aftab (30) pushed his wife into the Ganga canal because she failed to meet his family’s demands for dowry, confirmed the police.
Ayesha and Aftab have been married for two years now and have an eight-months-old son. The rising differences between the couple had forced Ayesha to leave her in-laws house. She had been living in her parents’ house for the last few days.
It was gathered that on the day of the incident, Aftab visited the wife’s house in order to convince her to come back. On their way back home, the accused allegedly pushed Ayesha into the Ganga canal on the pretext of taking a selfie with her.
However, the husband tried to avoid arrest by concocting a story about how robbers attacked the couple and the wife lost her life while resisting the attack. However, when the police found out loopholes in the version delivered by Aftab, the investigators realized that there was something fishy.
Aftab was then taken into custody and interrogated. He confessed to have pushed his wife into the canal while taking the selfie. Aftab has been arrested by the Meerut police and a case of dowry killing has been registered against him and his elder brother Shehjad. The latter is still at large.
Ayesha’s family said that her in-laws used to harass her over dowry even after two years of the couple’s marriage. The body of the deceased has been recovered from the Ganaga canal in Meerut’s Sardhana area.
