Nigerian Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, on Tuesday paid a courtesy visit to Sierra Leone’s President, Julius Maada Bio, in Freetown ahead of his rescheduled beach concert tied to the ongoing AFCON 2025 festivities.

The visit forms part of Davido’s 5ive Alive World Tour, which has seen the award-winning singer make several high-profile appearances across Africa and beyond.

Speaking during the meeting, Davido described Sierra Leone as his “second home,” expressing deep appreciation for the warmth he has consistently received from fans in the country.

The singer also assured his supporters that beyond the upcoming beach concert, there were plans for an even bigger show in the future.

“Sierra Leone has always shown me love. This place feels like home, and I promise a full stadium concert here someday,”
Davido was quoted as saying.

Davido took a moment to reflect on his previous performance in the country, recalling his 2017 show which, according to him, drew a massive crowd.

“The last time I performed here, over 50,000 people came out to support me. That moment has stayed with me,”
the singer said.

President Bio warmly welcomed the Afrobeats star, noting that Davido’s presence had generated excitement across the country, especially among young people and music lovers eagerly anticipating the AFCON-related concert.

The President praised Davido’s influence on African music and commended him for promoting African culture on the global stage.

Photos and videos from the visit quickly went viral on social media, with fans and observers highlighting Davido’s growing international stature. Many pointed out that the meeting adds to a list of high-profile engagements by the singer this year, including recent interactions with President Bola Tinubu of Nigeria and French President Emmanuel Macron, underscoring his influence beyond music.
