The NISO management in a statement said the Lagos-Escravos gas supply infrastructure which was earlier vandalized has been repaired and restored.

Irregular power supply in some parts of the country may soon ease, as the Federal Government, through the Nigerian Independent System Operator (NISO), has announced a significant improvement in electricity generation.

The NISO management in a statement said the Lagos-Escravos gas supply infrastructure which was earlier vandalized has been repaired and restored.

The statement noted that the repair carried out recently by the Nigerian Gas Infrastructure Company, NGIC has greatly enhanced gas supply to several key thermal power plants across the nation.

It further raised hope of stable power supply by pointing out that other thermal power plants in the country are currently on standby and are only awaiting for gas supply from their suppliers.

NISO said the gradual power offtake is currently being carried out by the affected plants, ensuring a smooth recovery and maintaining the stability of both the gas supply network and the national electricity grid.

Recall that many Nigerians celebrated Christmas on Thursday in darkness following a partial collapse of the national grid.

Several residents of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT experienced blackouts during the Christmas celebration.
