Utomi made this known on Thursday in an interview on ‘Politics Today’, a programme on Channels Television.
Political economist Pat Utomi has said that former Labour Party presidential candidate in the 2023 general elections, Peter Obi, has been with the African Democratic Congress from the very beginning.
Utomi made this known on Thursday in an interview on ‘Politics Today’, a programme on Channels Television.
He was reacting to Obi joining the ADC from the Labour Party.
Daily Post reports that Obi on Wednesday officially dumped the Labour Party for the ADC in Enugu alongside other notable Southeast leaders.
“Mr Peter Obi was in this conversation from the get go. He didn’t defect yesterday. We’ve been working out what will work to ensure that Nigerians are brought together under one head. You listen to him, he talk about inclusion, everybody coming together, because that’s the only way we can make progress.
“Forget politicians who said that all they need to do is grab power and everything is okay because they are okay for a moment, but the country is not in a position to really seriously work together.
“When you have the kind of divisiveness, the kind of exclusion that Nigeria currently is, economic progress does not take place, forget about 4% GDP growth.
“Real growth doesn’t take place without peace and a clear direction bought into by all working together to ensure that we get there,” he said.
