Uba officially dumped the PDP for the All Progressives Congress (APC) and declared total support for Benue State, Governor Hyacinth Alia.

Titus Uba, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) 2023 governorship candidate in Benue State, has explained that he left the party because members abandoned him during a critical period of his life.

Uba officially dumped the PDP for the All Progressives Congress (APC) and declared total support for Benue State, Governor Hyacinth Alia.

Uba, a former Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, made the declaration in a move that has sent shockwaves across the state’s political landscape.

His decision to openly align with Governor Alia represents a major political realignment, given his long-standing influence within the PDP and his recent status as the party’s governorship standard-bearer.

Speaking about the reasons for his defection, Uba said he felt abandoned by the PDP, contrasting the party’s attitude with Governor Alia’s personal intervention while he was sick.

According to him, the governor’s gesture went beyond politics and demonstrated genuine leadership and compassion, which ultimately informed his decision to align with the APC-led administration in the state.

He said, “When I was sick, no one from my former party, the PDP, cared about my welfare.

“Governor Alia took me to the hospital, paid my bills, and provided accommodation and feeding throughout my stay in Abuja.

“He came through for me when I was at my lowest.”
