Family Raises Alarm Over Missing Nigerian University Lecturer

Buhari was declared missing after failing to return home from Minna on Monday, January 12, 2026.

A family in Bida, Niger State, has expressed serious concern over the whereabouts of Malam Alkali Buhari, a lecturer at the Federal University of Technology (FUT) Minna.

According to the family, Malam Alkali Buhari left Bida at about 8:57am for his lectures at FUT Gidan Gwanru Campus. 
 
He reportedly maintained regular communication until the afternoon.
 
At about 3:21pm, he contacted his wife to inform her that he had concluded his lectures and was heading towards the campus gate to board a vehicle back to Bida. 
 
However, concerns were raised when his wife called again around 4:00pm to confirm his journey. Although the call connected, he did not respond, and the conversation reportedly lasted only 11 seconds.
 
Shortly after that call, his mobile phone became unreachable, and all efforts to contact him since then have proved abortive. As of the time of filing this report, Malam Alkali Buhari’s whereabouts remain unknown.
