Unconfirmed news hitting the Nigerian media space has it that Gen. Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida may have joined his ancestors in the great beyond but his family members have swiftly debunked the rumours.

Nigeria’s former Military President, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (RTD), is alive after all.
Babangida is said to be in Germany and not dead as rumoured by some sections of the media. A source close to the family, who pleaded anonymity, condemned the rumour.
He described it as false and inhuman.
The source, who is always at the Hill Top Mansion of the General in Minna, the Niger State capital, said the former Military President is expected in Nigeria today (Monday) or tomorrow (Tuesday) from Germany where he went for treatment.
He said: “I do not know where these rumours are coming from.
“It is false.
“This is inhuman.
“We should pray for him, wish him well and not dead.
“We are expecting him in Nigeria any moment from today because he has been in Germany for treatment.”
However, everything seemed normal in Minna despite the fact that the rumour had gone viral. Babangida’s son, Mohammed, was spotted at the EL-AMIN International School where he picked up his children from school around 1pm on Monday.
Mohammed however did not speak to the press as he seemed not to be aware of the rumour.
