Eze said it was high time that key figures of the ADC shoved aside personal ego and worked towards presenting a formidable front in order to wrest power from the present All Progressives Congress, APC, government, led by President Bola Tinubu, come 2027 general elections.
An All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, has criticised the recent actions and statements of the Obedient Movement, a political bloc loyal to Peter Obi, one of the key figures in the African Democratic Congress (ADC) movement, ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
Eze said it was high time that key figures of the ADC shoved aside personal ego and worked towards presenting a formidable front in order to wrest power from the present All Progressives Congress, APC, government, led by President Bola Tinubu, come 2027 general elections.
In a statement on Wednesday, the public affairs commentator reflected on the sole cardinal objective upon which the ADC vision was conceptualised, which basically, he said, is to save Nigerians from the alleged shackles of bad governance, corruption, nepotism, and hunger, inflicted on Nigerians by the present Tinubu APC government.
While urging the major political blocs in the ADC to be undiluted united in one vision to oust Tinubu from office come the 2027 general election, Eze noted that such an objective cannot be achieved in a house that is divided against itself.
Chief Eze was reacting to a false statement ascribed to one of the political pillars of ADC, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, being circulated through various social media outlets.
According to Eze, some sections of the ADC have deployed sinister strategy that will not augur well for the future of the party by blackmailing and intimidating other leaders of the party.
He also said that a statement out there credited to the former Rivers State Governor, praising Peter Obi is a false narrative, adding that his ally never made such a contraption.
“It was borne out of the fickle imagination of those wallowing in murky waters of illusion and desperation, who are out to blackmail and run down Amaechi and others,” he said.
“This act is not only unacceptable and reprehensible but totally condemnable. I do plead with Peter Obi to caution some members of his Obedient Movement that have decided that this strategy is the best to be adopted in the build up to picking the presidential candidate of the party,” he added.
“This is such an untoward practice and devious strategy that cannot fetch anyone the ADC ticket.
“The ADC Presidential ticket to the best of my knowledge and that of Nigerians is graciously open, there’s no doubt about that. It’s only a matter of time and everything will take shape. We must not be in a hurry to capsize our ship due personal aggrandizement.
“I therefore appeal to my brother, Peter Obi and his loyalists to exercise restraint, avoid desperation and blackmail of any magnitude and not to rock a cruise boat on a patriotic sail” Eze cautioned.
While advising Obi to remain focused, patriotic and visionary, Eze reminded that ADC “is on a mission to rescue Nigeria from the hands of Tinubu, whose administration has brought untold misery to Nigerians and made Nigeria a laughing stock in the comity of nations.
“ADC’s mission of sending Tinubu back to his Lagos Bourdillon residence is not a fluke and not in doubt, but if the key actors don’t unite to pursue this patriotic vision, Tinubu and his cohorts may succeed in unleashing untold punishment on Nigeria and Nigerians” Eze said.
He noted that the fate of Nigeria and Nigerians lays on ADC to rescue her from the hands of unpatriotic elements currently ruining the country.
“Nobody is in doubt that Atiku, Amaechi and Obi are the three leading presidential candidates in ADC and each one of them have the credential, sagacity and plan to rescue Nigeria out of her present sorry State and should any of these great leaders be castigated or undermined for any reason patriotic Nigerians will not tolerate such. The fact remains that this trio must work together in all honesty and unity of purpose to achieve the vision of rescuing Nigeria and Nigerians. There will be no shortcut to victory if there is last minute betrayal.
“Nigerians will not forgive them should they fail to put their acts together and unite in this onerous task, God has placed on them to salvage Nigeria’s dieing democracy and from bad leadership” Eze warned.
The statement expressed dismay over utterances by some key supporters of Peter Obi, suggesting that if he fails to get the presidential ticket of ADC, then the party will cease to exist.
“This stand is not only unfortunate, pathetic and demeaning, but unacceptable, shameful, unidealogical and unpatriotic to most Nigerians who are in love and support of the ADC movement.
“We must accept the fact that out of these three leading presidential candidates, only one will be elected to fly the flag of the party come 2027, and for a section of the party to think that without them the party will not fly is absurd, boastful and selfish,” Eze said.
