Subsequently, the Deputy Minority Leader, Barile Nwakoh, who represents Khana Constituency I, and Emilia Amadi, who represents Obio/Akpor Constituency II followed suit.

The four members of the Rivers State House of Assembly who had previously withdrawn from the impeachment proceedings against Governor Siminalayi Fubara have reversed their decision.

Recall that the lawmakers a few days ago withdrew their support for the impeachment proceedings against the governor.

Recall that the Minority Leader of the House, Sylvanus Nwankwo, representing Omuma State Constituency and Peter Abbey, representing Degema State Constituency, withdrew from the impeachment move, and similarly appealed to their colleagues to halt it.

Subsequently, the Deputy Minority Leader, Barile Nwakoh, who represents Khana Constituency I, and Emilia Amadi, who represents Obio/Akpor Constituency II followed suit.

However, during a press conference on Friday, held by the State House of Assembly members, the four lawmakers said the governor has not shown any reason for them to back down.

The development is coming as members of the Rivers State House of Assembly on Friday said they will proceed with the impeachment of Governor Siminalayi Fubara.

They stated his removal and that of his deputy will avert a breakdown of law and order in the state.

The governor and the members of the Assembly have been embroiled in a political face-off.
