He Paid The Supreme Price - Friend Mourns Nigerian Army Officer Reportedly K!lled By Terrorists In Borno (Photos)

At least nine Nigerian soldiers were killed and over a dozen others are missing after IS-aligned jihadists ambushed a military patrol at Damasak.

 

A Nigerian man, Aliyu Jamilu, has mourned his friend, a Nigerian military officer Major Bashar Mohammed, who was reportedly k!iled in a deadly terrorist ambush in Borno State.

At least nine Nigerian soldiers were killed and over a dozen others are missing after IS-aligned jihadists ambushed a military patrol at Damasak. 

According to AFP, eight soldiers managed to return to base while the rest remain missing, including their commander with the rank of a major.

Jamilu, in a Facebook post on Wednesday, January 28, 2026 revealed that the officer's body was recovered after several days of being MIA. 

“Innalillahi wa inna Ilaihirraju'un! Rayuwa abun tsoro. Just woke to the sad news of the passing of my dear friend Major BA Mohammed who paid the supreme price in the defense of the motherland,” he wrote. 

"His body was recovered after several days of being MIA at Damasak Borno State.

"May the Almighty forgive his shortcomings, expand his grave, grant him eternal rest, and comfort the family and loved ones he left behind.

“To think that I spoke to him few days ago where he told me yana cikin bush and there was no network yet still managed to reached out to check up on me, says a lot about the kind of person he was. Allahu Akbar. RIP Bash, I will miss you.”
