The Zamfara State Police Command has arrested a man identified as Mustapha Mohammed over the alleged possession of explosive materials.

“On January 27, 2027, at about 4:15 pm, operatives of Task Force on Illegal Mining of the command, led by ASP Aminu Aliyu acting on credible and actionable intelligence, carried out a successful operation that led to the arrest of the suspect in connection with unlawful possession of suspected explosive materials,” he said.
Abubakar stated that the suspect, identified as Mustapha Mohammad, 38, was arrested while driving a Toyota Corolla with registration number KUJ 933 EJ.
He added, “A thorough search of the vehicle led to the recovery of 954 pieces of suspected explosive materials, concealed in polyethylene bags”.
According to the police, investigations indicate that the recovered materials were suspected to have been intended for use by bandits as Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs).
DSP Abubakar said the suspect is currently in police custody, while the recovered items have been secured and handed over to the Police Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Team for further examination.
He added that investigations are ongoing to determine the source, destination and intended use of the recovered materials, as well as to identify and apprehend others linked to the matter.
