Tension erupted during the burial of gospel singer Bunmi Akinnaanu, popularly known as Omije Ojumi, after her son prevented his biological father from participating in the ceremony.

In a video which captured the development, the young man was seen confronting his father and denying him access to the venue.

The son reportedly accused his father of abandoning the family for many years.

He claimed the man was absent throughout their childhood and during the painful period when their mother battled a long illness.

The children were said to have depended completely on their mother, who single-handedly provided for them and ensured they stayed in school.

In one of the clips, the son expressed anger over his father’s absence during what he described as his mother’s time of deep suffering, when she struggled with sickness while still raising her children alone.

Earlier, Tori News reported that at the service of songs held in Lagos, the late singer’s first daughter, Jomiloju, spoke with emotion about their family life.

She described her mother as a dedicated parent who stood strong despite challenges in her marriage and the prolonged absence of their father.

She said Omije Ojumi devoted her life to raising her children properly and focused on their education, hoping they would grow into responsible adults.

Jomiloju promised publicly to care for her younger brother and guide him toward the values their mother desired for him.

She said: “She was always there for us, even when our father wasn’t. Her focus was to make sure we turned out responsible and did better than she did in her marital journey.

“I promised my mum that I will take care of my younger brother. He will be the prayer warrior and responsible son she wanted him to be, not like…”
