Pope Leo XIV Reacts To De@dly Attacks In Nigeria

Pope Leo XIV has spoken up about the violent attacks occurring in various parts of Nigeria.

Speaking via a post on 𝕏, the pontiff expressed sorrow over the dire situation and offered prayers for victims of terrorism and communal violence.

Describing the incidents as deeply troubling, he urged authorities to intensify efforts to protect citizens.

“It is with sorrow and concern that I learned of the recent attacks against various communities in Nigeria, leading to a heavy loss of life.

“I express my prayerful closeness to all the victims of violence and terrorism. I likewise hope that the competent authorities will continue to work with determination to ensure the safety and protection of the life of every citizen,” the Pope wrote.

His comments come amid renewed security concerns following attacks that left dozens de@d, homes destroyed, and residents displaced across several communities.

In Kwara State, gunmen launched a de@dly assault on Woro village in Kaima Local Government Area, shortly after military operations were carried out in the area against what authorities described as “terrorist elements.”

The attackers reportedly set shops ablaze and torched the residence of a traditional ruler, creating panic as wounded residents fled into nearby bushes to escape the violence.

On the same day, another de@dly attack occurred in the Doma community, Tafoki Ward, Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina State, where more than 20 persons were reportedly k!lled by suspected bandits.

Residents said the assailants stormed the community in large numbers, opening fire and causing mass casualties before fleeing the area.
