The court found her guilty of tampering with a N1,000 note in violation of the Central Bank of Nigeria Act, 2007.

A Federal High Court in Kano has convicted Kannywood actress Saadatu Mohammed Inuwa, popularly known as Samha, for abusing the Nigerian currency.

The judgment was delivered on February 13, 2026, by Justice S.M. Shuaibu.

The court found her guilty of tampering with a N1,000 note in violation of the Central Bank of Nigeria Act, 2007.

Inuwa was brought before the court on a single charge linked to the misuse and defacing of the naira.

According to the charge, the offence took place in 2022 within the court’s jurisdiction.

She was accused of soiling a N1,000 note issued by the Central Bank of Nigeria by using her nose, an act said to be against Section 21(1) of the CBN Act.

When the charge was read to her, the actress admitted to the offence.

Following her plea, the prosecuting lawyer, Musa Isah, presented the facts of the case and asked the court to find her guilty and apply the law.

Inuwa pleaded for leniency, telling the court that she had not committed any offence before and had regretted her action.

After hearing both sides, Justice Shuaibu delivered his ruling.

He sentenced the actress to six months in prison.

However, the court gave her the option to pay a fine of N200,000 instead of serving the jail term.
