Content creator Fari has taken to social media to express distress after witnessing a fresh demolition that left several residents displaced in Lagos.
In an emotional video, she said she was returning from the gym when she suddenly saw people’s homes being pulled down around Silverbed Road, leaving families stranded with their belongings on the roadside.
According to her, many victims said they had no prior notice and were forced to hurriedly move their properties while security operatives allegedly fired tear gas after an argument broke out during the exercise.
Some residents were seen sitting beside their salvaged belongings, unsure of where to go next. One affected woman, a tailor, said all her work tools and household items were now outside with no alternative shelter.
Fari also claimed many victims were too scared to record or speak publicly because they feared their phones could be seized or destroyed during the operation.
She added that situations like this happen often during demolitions, but rarely get attention because affected residents are afraid to speak out.
