A Lagos-based Nigerian woman, Sarah Olaomo, has expressed deep shock and sadness following the tragic death of her neighbour, who reportedly took her own life over an alleged ₦500,000 debt.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Sarah shared her disbelief and emotional distress over the development. According to her, she had interacted with the deceased just a day before the incident.
“Ahh!!!! My neighbour just committed suicide!!! I’m shaking, guys! I saw her yesterday. Just yesterday, I even said hello. Wft Jesus!!!!!!!!!!!!” she wrote in a visibly shaken post.
In a follow up post, she revealed that the woman killed herself over a N500k debt she owed.
The incident has since sparked conversations online about the pressures of debt and the importance of mental health awareness and support systems within communities.
