A Nigerian mother has tragically passed away less than 20 hours after arriving in the United Kingdom to celebrate her child’s graduation.
The heartbreaking news was shared on X by user SK the Plug, who identified the woman as Mrs. Oluranti Olufunmilayo Esther Akinyemi.
According to the post, Mrs. Akinyemi traveled to the UK on February 11, 2026, in anticipation of her child’s graduation ceremony, which was scheduled for February 18.
However, the joyful occasion turned tragic when, in the early hours of February 12, she reportedly suffered a sudden cardiac arrest. She was immediately rushed to Luton and Dunstable Hospital for emergency medical care.
Despite efforts to save her, Mrs. Akinyemi remained in a coma for three days. She was officially declared clinically dead on February 14, leaving family and friends devastated.
The news has sparked an outpouring of grief on social media, with many expressing shock and offering condolences to her family during this incredibly difficult time.
