A Nigerian medical professional, Dr. Ayilola, has recounted the compelling story of how he ended a relationship with his former girlfriend due to her medical condition.
In a post shared on X, Dr Ayilola mentioned that his ex at the time was battling with PCOS and hormonal imbalance that caused her to see her menstrual flow only once in a year and the cycle lasts for only two days.
He said that as a medical doctor, he knew that her chances of getting pregnant was slim and as someone who wouldn't want to deal with infertility issues in future, he had a long discussion with her where he disclosed that he was no longer be interested in their relationship.
He stated that years down the line, he discovered this same lady gave birth to three children.
His story has now ignited a debate online.
While some men applauded him for taking a quick decision when it mattered, others accused him of being wicked for leaving the lady just because she battled a medical condition.
His post reads: ‘’I ended a relationship with a woman because she was dealing with severe PCOS and significant hormonal imbalance.
She only had her period once a year, and it would last for just two days. We sought medical help, but the results were very discouraging.
As a medical doctor, I understood that her chances of conceiving were extremely low, less than 5%.
I had to ask myself whether I was prepared for the emotional and mental strain of waiting and hoping if we eventually got married.
I wasn’t ready to face the ongoing stress, moving from one prayer program to another, all in the hope of having a child.
One day, I sat her down and told her I needed to end the relationship. It was difficult and emotional at first, but eventually, we were able to reach a place of understanding.
That wasn’t even the end of the story. Guess what? She now has three children. Life truly has a way of surprising us.''
