The actress and Big Brother Naija star said that "some Nigerian business owners are worse than Yahoo boys".

Big Brother Naija star, Eriata Ese has sparked conversation online after sharing her candid observations about pricing practices among some Nigerian businesses.

The actress and former Big Brother Naija housemate did not mince words, stating that “some Nigerian business owners are worse than Yahoo boys,” a remark that quickly drew reactions across social media.

Explaining the experience that informed her opinion, Eriata revealed that she was charged ₦1.1 million for removable veneers. However, she later discovered what appeared to be the same product listed on a foreign website for just $150 — roughly ₦200,000 at the current exchange rate. The stark price difference, she implied, left her feeling taken advantage of.

She further amplified her concerns by reposting another account detailing a similar experience with Nigerian vendors allegedly inflating prices far beyond their actual value. Through her posts, Eriata questioned what she described as a growing culture of excessive markups, urging greater transparency and fairness in business dealings.

Her comments have since fueled wider debate online, with many Nigerians sharing comparable experiences, while others argued that factors such as import duties, logistics, and exchange rate fluctuations can significantly impact local pricing.
