Sowore, reacting to the disclosure by President Tinubu that he has accepted the resignation of Egbetokun as the Inspector General, taunted Tinubu, saying Nigerians would soon accept his own resignation.
Omoyele Sowore has insisted that Bola Ahmed Tinubu should not have appointed Kayode Egbetokun as the Inspector-General of Police.
Sowore, reacting to the disclosure by President Tinubu that he has accepted the resignation of Egbetokun as the Inspector General, taunted Tinubu, saying Nigerians would soon accept his own resignation.
The former presidential candidate lamented that Tinubu’s government is riddled with errors and poor judgment.
He insisted that Tinubu had no choice but to remove Egbetokun from office.
“You have no choice. You should never have appointed Kayode Egbetokun as Inspector-General of Police in the first place.
“Sooner than you think, Nigerians will also ‘accept’ your resignation, and history will record your tenure as one defined by avoidable errors and poor judgment at the highest level“, Sowore wrote in the comment section of a post by President Tinubu on 𝕏 confirming Egbetokun’s resignation.
Recall that President Tinubu, on Tuesday, appreciated the former Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, for his years of service and dedication to Nigeria.
The President also praised Egbetokun for his dedication, professionalism and commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s internal security architecture are deeply appreciated.
Tinubu, in a personally signed statement released via his 𝕏 account, added that he has approved the appointment of Assistant Inspector General of Police Tunji Disu as Acting Inspector General in view of the current security challenges in the country.
President Tinubu disclosed that he would soon convene the Nigeria Police Council to formally consider Disu’s appointment as substantive Inspector General of Police before transmitting his name to the Senate for confirmation.
