Panic As Gunmen Invade Ondo Celestial Church, Abduct Six Worshippers

Spokesperson of the Ondo State Police Command, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, who confirmed this in a statement released on Wednesday, said the incident occurred in the early hours of February 25 at approximately 12:50 am.

 

Gunmen have kidnapped six worshippers at the Celestial Church of Christ in Uso, Owo Local Government Area, Ondo State.

The incident took place in the early hours of Wednesday, during a service in the church.

Spokesperson of the Ondo State Police Command, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, who confirmed this in a statement released on Wednesday, said the incident occurred in the early hours of February 25 at approximately 12:50 am.

Jimoh explained that the victims were reportedly taken to an unknown destination by the attackers.

“Upon receiving the report, the operatives of the Command, in collaboration with the Nigerian Army and local vigilante groups, immediately mobilised to the scene and commenced coordinated rescue operations.

“As a result of sustained joint efforts, one of the kidnapped victims has been successfully rescued,” the statement said.

The abduction comes just four days after gunmen kidnapped a couple at Ilu-Abo, in Akure North LGA of Ondo State.

Also, Oba Kehinde Falodun, the Alagamo of Agamo in Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State, was recently shot dead by gunmen who invaded his palace.
