Nobel Laureate Wole Soyinka recently led members of the Pyrates Confraternity in a solemn ceremony to honour the late former ASUU President Emeritus, Biodun Jeyifo, who was laid to rest in Ibadan.

The memorial brought together a distinguished gathering of academics, colleagues, and admirers who paid heartfelt tribute to the late scholar’s enduring contributions to university education and his unwavering commitment to intellectual discourse.

Attendees reflected on Jeyifo’s profound impact on higher education in Nigeria, celebrating his dedication to fostering academic excellence and nurturing critical thinking among generations of students.

Soyinka, who founded the Pyrates Confraternity at the University of Ibadan in 1953, spoke about the late scholar’s legacy, emphasizing the values of scholarship, courage, and community that both Jeyifo and the confraternity upheld throughout their lives.
