Veteran Nollywood actress Omotola Jalade Ekeinde has revealed that she once visited a rough neighbourhood in Mushin, Lagos State, in search of money to help pay her brother’s school fees.

The actress spoke about the experience during an appearance on The Afropolitan Show, where she explained that she was only 15 years old at the time.

According to her, a colleague in the film industry took her to the area to meet some men known for lending money.

Omotola explained that they had to pass through a rough environment before getting to the place where the men were waiting.

She said the men were known in the area for dealing with loans and were considered dangerous.

She recounted that when she arrived, she pleaded with them to help her with money because her brother needed to pay his school fees.

The actress said the situation was frightening because she was young and surrounded by men who had a reputation for trouble. She admitted that the encounter could have ended badly, but she believes she was protected and was not harmed.

She said: “There was also a time when a colleague in the industry took me to some place in Mushin, some ghetto place. We walked through this rough place. I was about 15 years old then. We got to this place and these bad boys were there, like in a sitting room, and I begged them that I was looking for money for my brother’s school fees. And this guy looked at me, they could have r@ped me”

The actress said the men eventually agreed to give her the money she requested. However, she later faced problems when it was time to repay the loan.

According to her, she was unable to return the money as agreed. This led to tension with the lenders, who began making threats against her because of the unpaid debt.

She explained that the situation later reached her home, where the men went to confront her family. During that visit, they took away some items from the house, including the family’s television and DVD player, as a way to recover the money they believed they were owed.
