The agency assured the public that emergency responders were on the scene managing the situation.
The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) on Monday confirmed a tanker fire at the T-Junction along the inward Temu–Epe route.
The agency assured the public that emergency responders were on the scene managing the situation.
In an official statement posted on the agency’s X handle, LASTMA said: “There’s a burning tanker at T Junction inward Temu Epe but nothing to worry about as the firefighters are already on ground to put out the fire. LASTMA and FRSC officers are also on ground to ensure free vehicular movement.”
Footage shared by the agency showed the tanker engulfed in flames and thick smoke rising from the site, while traffic along the route came to a standstill.
Vehicles, trailers, tankers, tricycles and okadas were forced to divert to alternative routes as officers worked to maintain order.
In a follow-up video, fire personnel were seen successfully extinguishing the blaze, which had completely destroyed the tanker.
Authorities have not disclosed the cause of the fire as of the time of filing this report.
LASTMA urged motorists to remain calm and adhere to traffic instructions while emergency services continue to monitor and secure the area.
