Nigerian woman, Kate Bassey, has shared a heartfelt reflection on her ongoing battle with cancer, revealing the emotional and physical challenges that often go unseen.

In a candid Facebook post on Tuesday, March 10, she described the struggle of living with the disease while trying to shield her loved ones from worry.

“Whatever you do… may you never be struck by cancer,” she wrote, capturing the harsh reality of the illness.

Kate described how a seemingly normal morning can quickly turn into a day of intense weakness: “You could wake up feeling okay, and in a few hours, you become a vegetable—your entire body goes weak.”

She went on to explain that perhaps the most difficult part of her journey is maintaining a sense of normalcy in public.

“The hardest part is when you have to deal with that as lowkey as possible, so you don’t get your loved ones in panic mode. Hence why I show up on social media and to those that have to meet me in person, as normal as possible,” she shared.

For Kate, masking her pain has become an exhausting part of daily life, but she remains hopeful. “Masking pain is so strenuous. This too shall pass,” she wrote, offering both a glimpse into her personal struggle and a message of resilience for others facing similar battles.

Her post serves as a poignant reminder of the silent strength many cancer patients carry and the emotional weight that accompanies serious illness—often hidden behind a brave smile.
