Asake, in a recent interview with YouTuber, Korty EO, said his father strongly opposed his career choice.

Nigerian singer Ahmed Ololade, popularly known as Asake, has disclosed that his relationship with his father, Fatai Odunsi, became strained after he chose to pursue a career in music.

Asake, in a recent interview with YouTuber, Korty EO, said his father strongly opposed his career choice.

The Sungba crooner further stated that he disobeyed his father by absconding from him to chase his dream.

He said, “My dad and I were so close when I was younger.

"But it got to a time when I wanted to leave home to do what I’m doing now but my father said ‘No.’ I left regardless.”

Recall that in March 2025, Asake’s father made headlines after he accused the singer of neglect and abandonment.

Following the heavy backlash, Asake and his father reconciled, with the singer taking responsibility for his dad’s welfare.

Earlier, Tori News reported that Asake recently recounted some of the challenges he faced with show promoters during the early days of his career.

The singer, during an interview with Famous TV, credited his resilience and perseverance for his growth in the music industry.

According to Asake, show promoters rejected him because he sang mostly in Yoruba.

The singer said he is thankful to God that he did not change his sound or stop singing in Yoruba despite the earlier rejections.
