Nollywood actor Aremu Afolayan has added his name to the expanding list of entertainers openly endorsing President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general election.

The actor made his position known during a recent campaign gathering, where he defended the current administration.

He also downplayed concerns raised by many Nigerians about the state of the economy and living conditions.

Afolayan said his personal experience does not reflect the hardship often discussed across the country, adding that he is doing well despite the wider complaints.

He also credited Tinubu for diplomatic efforts that led to the lifting of travel restrictions placed on Nigerians by the United Arab Emirates.

The Nollywood figure further expressed support for the president’s leadership style, saying it is aimed at bringing Nigerians together at a time when the country faces multiple challenges.

He noted that while Nigeria still has many issues, the focus should be on ongoing efforts rather than constant criticism.

On security concerns, Afolayan dismissed reports about insurgency, saying that such reports should not always be taken at face value.

He said, “When people say the country is hard, I don’t really care because I’m doing very well. When the UAE banned Nigerians from entering their country, it was President Tinubu who went there, met with their president, and helped lift the ban. Nigeria has many problems, but most Nigerians seem more focused on criticizing him and his efforts.

“The good work President Tinubu is doing is why I support him. He is trying to unite Nigerians. And when you watch the news about insurgency, don’t mind them it’s all scripted.”
