Momodu, in a strongly worded statement, described Fani-Kayode as a “wasted investment,” expressing concern over his temperament and suitability for public office.

A veteran journalist and former presidential candidate, Dele Momodu, has delivered a sharp criticism of former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, over his recent conduct and reported nomination for a diplomatic position.

Momodu, in a strongly worded statement, described Fani-Kayode as a “wasted investment,” expressing concern over his temperament and suitability for public office.

Momodu recalled his long-standing familiarity with Fani-Kayode’s late father, Remilekun Fani-Kayode, noting that he knew him before meeting his son.

He said despite Fani-Kayode’s privileged upbringing and access to elite education, including studies at Cambridge University, his behaviour has remained controversial.

In the statement, Momodu criticised Fani-Kayode’s conduct, alleging that efforts by friends and family to guide him had failed.

“Femi is a classic case of a wasted investment… but turned out an outright and incurable thug,” he said.

He further described him as confrontational, claiming he often engages in unnecessary conflicts.

Momodu also questioned the decision of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to reportedly consider Fani-Kayode for an ambassadorial role.

He warned that such an appointment could be controversial given the former minister’s public persona.

According to Momodu, Fani-Kayode had long anticipated a political appointment and had expressed frustration over delays.

He alleged that the former minister had even explored alternative political alignments, including reaching out to former Vice-President, Atiku Abubakar, at some point.

Momodu said: “For Femi, it is a fulfillment of a long expected appointment. We discussed it several times. And I encouraged him to be patient and prayerful. I felt his deep frustration and depression. He was already working on Plan B, and begging a few of us to help him reach out to Alhaji Atiku Abubakar (GCON), if all hopes evaporate. Femi without power is like fish out of water. It is such a pity that now that Tinubu has finally looked at his side, with mercy and compassion, he is still busy fighting, like a pig, instead of seeking urgent rehabilitation into the comity of sane human beings.”

Momodu urged Fani-Kayode to change his approach, stating that public office requires discipline and restraint.

He suggested that rather than engaging in conflicts, the former minister should focus on personal reform and responsible conduct.

Recall that Fani-Kayode, the newly appointed Nigerian Ambassador to Germany, had warned Momodu, a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), that his glory days will soon be over.

Fani-Kayode boasted that when Tinubu wins in 2027, Momodu would crawl back into the hole he came from.

He said: “Frankly, I feel sorry for him because it is clear that he is fighting a lost cause, he is badly diminished, and he is now a shadow of his former self.

“For Bobby Dee, the glory days are certainly over, and I suspect that by 2027, when Tinubu emerges victorious, he will crawl back into the hole that he originally came from.

“Perhaps at that time, he will go back to taking pictures of former Governor Nyesom Wike, the Adelekes, and other prominent figures for a living and shining their shoes.”

Fani-Kayode stated this while reacting to Momodu’s comment about himself and Reno Omokri.

Recall that Momodu had, in a statement titled “Reno Omokri & Femi Fani-Kayode: A Tale of Two Shameless Friends,” described the duo as “perpetual agents of perfidy” with no credibility.

Dismissing both men as lacking the moral authority to challenge him, Momodu pointed to their own documented criticism of Tinubu as evidence of hypocrisy.

“They both have no credibility whatsoever. Together, they’ve expressed the worst views ever about Bola Tinubu that they will never be able to erase, or clean up, in a million years,” he said, adding that their continued service to the president reflected desperation on both sides.

“The only reason I could adduce for Tinubu’s tolerance of both irritants is desperation and his inability to find better people to do the dirty jobs,” he stated.
