The name change comes after a public dispute with Wale Adenuga, founder of Wale Adenuga Productions, over the rights to the Papa Ajasco brand.

Veteran actor Abiodun Ayoyinka has officially adopted a new stage name, Bondu Alaska, stepping away from the iconic Papa Ajasco character that brought him decades of fame.

In a video shared on social media, Ayoyinka presented himself under the new identity and thanked Nigerians for their support during a period of public attention following his viral interviews.

He encouraged fans and brands to recognise him as Bondu Alaska going forward.

He has also updated his Instagram handle to reflect the new name.

“Ladies and Gentlemen, good morning Nigerians. My name is Bondu Alaska. The one and only Bondu Alaska,” he said in the clip.

“I want to use this medium to thank Nigerians because they have done a lot in my life. I’m a new person now, and I promise that I will not let you down,” he added.

The name change comes after a public dispute with Wale Adenuga, founder of Wale Adenuga Productions, over the rights to the Papa Ajasco brand.

Ayoyinka explained that he could not use the Papa Ajasco name for commercial projects because it is trademarked by the production company.

He also discussed challenges he faced financially, noting that he had not gained the expected benefits despite playing the character for many years.
