A Nigerian mother has expressed concern over what she described as increasing competition among private schools.

In a post shared online, she questioned a situation where children return from school with expensive gifts like bicycles and bags from a classmate’s birthday celebration.

“Imagine your children come back from school with a bicycle and school bag and say it’s from a classmate’s birthday,” she said.

She added that schools should remain learning environments and not become spaces where parents feel pressured to match expensive gestures.

According to her, giving out such items may create expectations among other parents.

“If you think because you shared bicycle to my children, I’ll do the same, you’re joking,” she said.
