The Supreme Court just put the ADC’s leadership drama on the fast track, Justice Mohammed Garba scheduled an accelerated hearing for April 22nd to finally settle who’s actually steering the party ship.

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) factional National Chairman filed an appeal about the party's leadership issue, and the Supreme Court has set a hearing for April 22.

Mark is appealing the Court of Appeal's ruling from March 12, which dismissed his appeal against the September 4, 2025 ruling by Justice Emeka Nwite of the Federal High Court in Abuja refusing to grant some injunctive reliefs contained in an ex-parte application filed by a chieftain of the party, Nafiu Bala Gombe.

A bench of five Supreme Court judges, led by Justice Mohammed Garba chose the date on Tuesday after granting accelerated hearing in the appeal marked:  SC/CV/180/2026. The court ordered Mark’s lawyer, Jibril Okutepa (SAN) to file the appellant’s brief and serve on Wednesday.

It mandated that every respondent submit and formally present to the appellant, a respondent’s brief  within three days of being served with the appellant’s brief.

The court has ordered the appellant to submit a reply brief, if necessary, within one day of receiving the briefs from the respondents.
