Kwara State Health Commissioner, Dr. Aminat Ahmed El-Imam, has hailed the state as a top destination for safe childbirth and child upbringing.
Dr. Aminat Ahmed El-Imam, the Kwara State Commissioner for Health, attributes the state's improved healthcare under Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq to Kwara's status as one of Nigeria's best locations for birthing and childrearing.
Regarding the advancements in the health sector, she stated that the governor might not be vocal, but his administration has delivered visible results over the years. According to her, “he has converted seven years into a lifetime in the health sector in Kwara,” stressing that the impact of his leadership is both deep and far-reaching.
She clarified that there has been a significant improvement in the state's healthcare system, especially in funding and institutional trust. She noted that before the current administration, some international partners such as UNICEF had withdrawn support due to challenges like counterpart funding. However, she said these organisations have now returned as Kwara has regained credibility and is now ranked among the better-performing states in healthcare delivery.
She stated that there has been a significant improvement in the state's healthcare system globally and universal health coverage is still a work in progress. Nevertheless, she maintained that Kwara has made significant improvements that cannot be ignored, particularly in maternal and child health services, infrastructure, and system strengthening.
She gave more details on the governor as a calm and result-driven leader who prefers measurable outcomes over public noise, adding that his approach has helped reposition the health sector in the state.
Overall, she insisted that Kwara's healthcare system has changed, reflecting consistent advancements, revitalized collaborations, and enhanced service delivery, making the state more conducive to safe childbirth and child development..
