During a patrol in Yobe State's Babbangida area, soldiers from the 233 Battalion and members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) killed three suspected terrorists.

The event occurred in Nanewa village on April 19 at approximately 5:30 p.m., according to military sources who spoke with Zagazola Makama, a counterinsurgency specialist in the Lake Chad region.

Along the way, the forces encountered an ambush staged by suspected terrorists while on a regular patrol. The soldiers were able to retaliate and engage the assailants in gunfire despite the unexpected attack. Three of the accused terrorists were slain during the exchange.

After the clash, troops recovered three AK-47 rifles and five motorcycles that were left behind by the fleeing attackers.

No soldier was injured during the operation, and the team returned safely to their base around 7:15 p.m. Security sources say the situation in the area is currently calm, though still uncertain.

They also stated that soldiers are still prepared and motivated, with ongoing patrols and operations aimed at preventing terrorist groups from moving freely in the area.
