Giwa Odulana, also known as Ajirotutu, a prominent member of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ogun State, has announced his plan to run for the Ogun East Senatorial seat in 2027.
During a stakeholder meeting at the PDP Ward 3 Secretariat in Itantebo, Ijebu-Ode, Odulana made the announcement on Wednesday.
He claimed that the necessity to improve Ogun East residents' quality of life through efficient legislation was the driving force behind his choice to run for senator.
He characterized himself as youthful, energetic, and capable of bringing about the necessary generational change in leadership to promote socioeconomic growth throughout the senatorial district's nine local government districts.
"I have come here today to announce that I will be running for the Ogun East Senatorial seat in 2027," Odulana declared. There are undoubtedly shortcomings in the senatorial district's governance, which demand for correction in a number of sectors, including health, education, young employment, and adequate roads.
"The All Progressives Congress has undoubtedly been very disappointing, and this cannot go on in 2027. In order to let everyone know that things are actually changing, it is time to give young people the chance to go out and do things differently.
"We won't abandon anyone if I have the necessary backing and you elect me to the Senate in 2027. It will be inclusive governance that prioritizes the well-being of the people, empowerment of women and youth, and infrastructural development above parochial interests.”
He maintained that his ambition is driven by a desire to reposition the senatorial district and deliver meaningful development across the nine local government areas in Ogun East.
Odulana explained that his background in engineering and estate development has equipped him with the expertise required to drive infrastructure development in the region, promising to prioritise education and youth empowerment if elected.
During his speech, Otunba Ayinde Awobadejo, the PDP State Vice Chairman, welcomed Odulana to the party and promised him an impartial and open procedure.
Awobadejo urged members to keep organizing for success in the 2027 elections, describing the opposition party as the last chance Nigerians had to resist the hardships imposed by the APC-led administration.
