Peter Obi, a leader of the African Democratic Congress opposition alliance and a former Labour Party presidential contender in the 2023 general election, arrived in Bauchi State on Thursday to meet with Governor Bala Mohammed.

Since both politicians were sequestered in a private meeting at the Presidential Lounge of the Government House in Bauchi, the reason for the visit could not be immediately determined.

The discussion, which was in progress at the time this article was filed, may discuss recent political alliances and events in front of upcoming elections, according to sources inside Government House.

However, at the conclusion of the meeting, both leaders are scheduled to provide a briefing to the media.

On March 31, Mohammed, the chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party Governors' Forum, revealed that the African Democratic Congress was his top choice for defection.

At Government House in Bauchi, he made the revelation while entertaining an ADC delegation headed by Babachir Lawal, a former Secretary to the Government of the Federation.

But soon after, the governor's political views seemed to change, as he hosted Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf and National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress Nentawe Yilwatda in Government House on April 1.
