According to Bernard Doro, Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Ondo State has received approximately ₦9.9 billion through the Household Prosperity and Empowerment Cash Transfer Program of the Federal Government.

During a stakeholder interaction with beneficiaries on Monday at St. David's Primary School in Ibule, Ifedore LGA, Ondo State, Doro revealed this information.

According to him, the initiative targets low-income and vulnerable households across the country as part of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda. He claims that more than nine million households in the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory have profited.

The program pays each beneficiary household ₦75,000 in three tranches, according to the minister, who also mentioned that Ondo alone has recorded over ₦9.9 billion during the first, second, and third cycles, encompassing 396,671 households.

According to him, the visit was a component of a nationwide validation process to verify that funds are getting to the designated recipients and evaluate the impact on the welfare of the populace.

Doro voiced concern about the program's poor awareness, pointing out that many eligible Nigerians are still unable to completely comprehend or utilize it. In order to improve the delivery of social protection, he advocated for increased communication and transparency.

He continued by saying that beneficiaries who were chosen at random were contacted directly to verify payment receipt and offer input that would shape future policy changes and program effectiveness.

Earlier, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa praised the Federal Government for the program, calling it a lifeline for the state's most disadvantaged families.

He pointed out that the South-West region has received roughly ₦62 billion under the program and stated that more coordination between the federal and state governments is necessary for efficient execution.

In order to prevent payment delays, the governor further emphasized difficulties with National Identification Number registration and urged pertinent organizations to make sure that residents are properly captured on the social register.
