The National Youths Service Corps provides a durable platform for national integration and solidarity, according to Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang.

Mutfwang made this statement on Friday at the orientation exercise for the 2026 Batch "A" Stream II corps members' swearing-in ceremony.

The governor stated that corps members were more than just participants in the one-year service program, as indicated by Mr. Kenneth Buenyen, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youth and Sports Development.

He characterized corps members as catalysts for social and economic advancement, representatives of national integration, and ambassadors of unity.

During the orientation exercise, Mutfwang instructed the newly sworn-in corps members to follow the scheme's bylaws and pay close attention to all course material.

The governor urged them to instill in them the values of self-reliance, discipline, patriotism, and leadership that would prepare them both during and after the service year.

He exhorted, "Uphold the core values of discipline, patriotism, and selfless service and perform your duties with diligence."

He counseled them to avoid all sorts of false information, polarizing stories, and attitudes that would threaten the nation's unity in order to present themselves as trustworthy and constructive change agents.

Mutfwang reassured the corps members that his administration, in collaboration with security agencies, was working tirelessly to sustain the peace and stability that had been restored in the state.

"Let me reassure you that my administration's top priority are your safety and wellbeing.

"To protect peace and stability throughout the state, we would continue to work closely with all pertinent security agencies." He spoke.

Mutfwang encouraged the corps members to act honorably and responsibly, wear their NYSC uniforms with pride, and do their jobs with diligence.

The newly sworn corps members were earlier exhorted to fully participate in all camp activities, especially the skills acquisition program, by Mr. Jonathan Yavala, NYSC State Coordinator.

According to Yavala, the abilities would equip students for the demands of the service year and beyond.

The Plateau administration was praised by the state coordinator for its unwavering support of the NYSC program.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), 1,773 corps members signed up for the batch.
