The Army Headquarters Department of Standards and Evaluation held a sensitization session on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, as part of the Nigerian Army's increased efforts to improve institutional performance and operational efficiency through the implementation of a standardized evaluation framework.

Key stakeholders came together for the seminar, which was hosted at the Nigerian Army Conference Centre and Suites in Asokoro, Abuja, to improve comprehension and use of structured performance assessment methods across formations and units.

The Military Secretary Army, Major General Everest Okoro, spoke on behalf of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, who opened the seminar by describing it as an important step in bolstering institutional growth.

He pointed out that the forum is the department's first significant involvement since its founding and highlights the dedication of the Nigerian Army to professional excellence.

He went on to say that the Nigerian Army's quality assurance division, the Department of Standards and Evaluation, is in charge of ensuring adherence to set standards, carrying out recurring evaluations of combat preparedness, and assessing operational actions.

As a result, through improved evaluation techniques, these metrics are intended to pinpoint performance strengths, close systemic weaknesses, and promote ongoing development.

Major General Bobby Ugiagbe, Chief of Army Standards and Evaluation (CASE), said earlier in his welcome speech that the seminar's goal is to encourage the methodical application of standards in order to improve discipline, professionalism, and operational effectiveness.

In order to improve performance outcomes, he continued, it will also help the Nigerian Army institutionalize consistent evaluation procedures.

The lecture focuses on the Nigerian Army's intentional efforts to strengthen compliance procedures and improve performance indicators in accordance with international best practices in order to solidify a culture of accountability, accuracy, and continuous development.
