Along the Azir Bridge in Timbuktu axis and Bulabulin Forest in Borno state, troops from Operation Hadin Kai have neutralized eighteen terrorists and found a sizable stockpile of weapons and ammunition.

Eleven terrorists were killed in Bulabulin Forest, while seven were neutralized in the Timbuktu axis, according to a statement released on Wednesday by Lt Col Sani Uba, the Media Information Officer for Northeast Joint Taskforce Operation Hadin Kai.

He stated that Sector 2 worked closely with OPHK's Air Component Command to carry out the two synchronized operations.

"On the Bulabulin Forest axis, troops of Sector 2 OPHK in collaboration with units of the Stabilization Force of Sector 2 and the Civilian Joint Task Force eradicated terrorist enclaves at Mar, Subdu, Yaro Lawanti, and Yaro Shuwari, as well as other areas contiguous to the Bulabulin Forest and the Kamadogu Yobe stretch.

“During the operation, supported by assault air platforms from the Air Component Command, the troops made contact at Malam Shiri Village and engaged the terrorists in a well-coordinated and tactical flanking manoeuvre, neutralising 11 terrorists and forcing others to flee with varying degrees of injuries.

All life support structures, according to him, were subsequently destroyed, and exploitation of the area led to the recovery of 9 AK-47 rifles, 3 PKT anti-aircraft automatic machine guns, 5 motorcycles, assorted ammunition, and several materials used for Improvised Explosive Devices.

He pointed out that forces engaged in additional operations with terrorists along the Timbuktu axis along the Wajiroko Sabongari corridor, with assistance from OPHK's Air Component Command.

"The troops decisively defeated the terrorists while maintaining their positions with tactical discipline and resilience. Seven terrorists were neutralized by further exploitation, and other blood trails and body pieces indicated even greater enemy deaths during the assault, he said.

AK-47 rifles, RPG tubes, a sizable ammunition storage, bandoliers, and communication devices were among the goods he claimed as found.

He continued, "The Air Component Command of OPHK played a very important and decisive role in both engagements, providing persistent Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance that enabled accurate target acquisition and real-time situational awareness for ground troops coordinated fire."

Uba emphasized that the Nigerian Air Force's aircraft then carried out precision air interdiction strikes on confirmed terrorist positions and escaping elements, further decimating scores of the insurgents and guaranteeing the success of a well-coordinated air-land offensive that overwhelmed the enemy.

Additionally, he stated that troops and volunteer forces are currently engaged in intense follow-up exploitation operations along the Forfor, Multe, and Wajiroko axes in an effort to prevent any attempt at regrouping, consolidate gains, and chase terrorists who are fleeing.

He continued, "These successful engagements further reinforce OPHK's growing operational effectiveness and sustained dominance across the battlespace."

According to Uba, the military high leadership urged the troops to maintain the operating pace while praising them for their bravery and tenacity.
