Early on Wednesday, a fire in Kano completely destroyed a two-story structure that served as a business plaza.

In a statement signed by ACFO Saminu Yusif Abdullahi, the Public Relations Officer, the Kano State Fire Service verified the occurrence, stating that an emergency call was received at about 4:01 a.m. According to the statement, a citizen named Chukude made the distress call and stated that there was a fire at No. 20A Airport Road in the Fagge Local Government Area.

According to the statement, "firefighters from the agency's headquarters and other stations within the metropolis were immediately mobilized to the scene upon receiving the report."

When firefighters arrived, the roughly 100-by-100-foot structure was already on fire.

Two hospital equipment stores were among the ground level stores that were impacted by the fire.

Several fire vehicles from several sites, including Kantin Kwari, Bompai, and the central fire station, were used to contain the fire, according to the statement.

"Shops on the ground floor were well ablaze, and the building, a two-story business plaza, was engulfed in flames," it stated.

Investigations are currently underway to ascertain the cause of the incident.

Alhaji Sani Anas, the director of the Kano State Fire Service, urged locals to take precautions to stop fires.
