A competing group within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been challenged by Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike to establish an official party secretariat and bank account in order to demonstrate its leadership.

During a live media discussion with journalists in Abuja on Wednesday, Wike issued the challenge, accusing certain party leaders of deceiving Nigerians and disregarding court decisions in the present conflict.

"You must stop misleading Nigerians. Let them create an official PDP account and instruct party members to deposit nomination costs into it if they are certain they are the PDP's legitimate leadership, he urged.

The former governor of Rivers State explicitly urged Taminu Turaki and other opponents to provide evidence to support their assertions.

"Let Turaki register a PDP account in his capacity as a Senior Advocate of Nigeria. For members who choose to run for office, let them make the announcement in public. You'll see what happens that day," Wike continued.

He claimed that because the faction lacks the necessary party documents and legal support, no financial institution would recognize such an account.

"That bank will be in problems since you need to present the party's legitimate documentation and acknowledged leadership in order to open such an account. He asked, "Who has those documents?"

Wike emphasized that he would not permit any action that could disturb the calm and cautioned against any attempt to open what he called "illegal party offices" in the capital city.

"I will seal it if someone opens an illegal office in Abuja under the PDP's name." Since it is my responsibility to uphold law and order in the Federal Capital Territory, I will not permit any disturbance of peace," he declared.

The minister insisted that the leadership conflict had already been settled by court orders and charged certain players with manipulating the decisions for their own political gain.

"People ought to quit misleading Nigerians. The verdicts are unambiguous. He stated, "You cannot start building parallel structures and disregard court rulings."

Additionally, he refuted allegations that a Supreme Court judgment favored the opposing group, stating that existing court rulings uphold the party's acknowledged leadership.

He claims that attempts to misinterpret the verdicts outside of their appropriate context are intended to mislead the public and party members.

Wike stated that he is still a devoted PDP member and is merely standing up for what he called the party's "constitutional order."
