Former Speaker of the Jigawa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Isah Idris, has resigned from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), citing personal conviction and dissatisfaction with recent party developments.
Rt. Hon. Isah Idris, a serving member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and former speaker of the Jigawa State House of Assembly, has resigned from his position.
In his resignation letter, which he signed and sent to the chairman of the Gwaram ward, Hon. Isah made this statement.
"I want to write and formally inform you about my decision to resign my membership from the All Progressives Congress, APC," the letter states.
"As the party's founding member and previous speaker, I hope the APC will retain the values and ideals for which it was founded.
"Given this, I firmly feel that now is the right moment for me to resign."
His resignation might have something to do with the recent APC candidate screening, when the member was eliminated and replaced by Ado Yakubu Zandam.
Although the member has not yet declared his party affiliation, research indicates that he would shortly join the PDP or ADC.
Umar Kyari Jitau, the PDP Publicity Secretary, welcomed the member joined the party in a statement.
