Festus Keyamo, the minister of aviation and aerospace development, has made fun of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) over former Anambra governor Peter Obi's departure to the New Democratic Congress (NDC), comparing the situation to a bachelor who lost a valuable lover after failing to commit.

Keyamo acknowledged that he was "interfering in what does not concern me" in a post on X on Thursday. He then described the impact from Obi's leaving using a love comparison.

"A bachelor refuses to promise a young, attractive woman that she would be his first marriage, even though he adores her and believes she is the best of his girlfriends. He suggests keeping her as a side girl or second wife, he wrote.

He claimed that while the rejected bachelor turned to public insults, the woman, conscious of her worth, discreetly left for another suitor who promptly offered her the commitment she deserved.

He said, "The attractive woman, who understands her value, has no time to waste waiting for this bachelor and walks away quietly to another suitor who understands her value and instantly assures her she'd be the first wife."

"Haba! Why don't you just stay with your other woman and leave her alone, bachelor? This just pertains to Peter Obi and the ADC.

Obi was depicted in the analogy as the “high-value woman” who defected from a party that could not get him a presidential ticket, while the ADC was portrayed as the disappointed suitor reacting angrily to the exit.

According to Vanguard, Obi announced his resignation from the ADC on Saturday, citing the party's ongoing internal conflicts and legal challenges as his reasons.

There are rumors that Obi and former Kano governor Rabiu Kwankwaso, who also defected to the NDC, may form a coalition ahead of the 2027 election.
