A member of the House of Representatives, Bello El-Rufai, has officially defected from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), adding to the growing wave of political realignments ahead of the 2027 elections.

Bello El-Rufai, the son of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, has left the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to join the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
A member of the House of Representatives is Bello El-Rufai.
Speaker of the House of Representatives Abbas Tajudeen revealed El-Rufai's defection on Thursday during plenary.
El-Rufai was joining ADC with two Kaduna State lawmakers from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Umar Ajilo and Suleiman Richifa, according to Tajudeen.
The Speaker also declared that Kano State lawmaker Kamilu Ado had defected from the ADC to the Nigeria Democratic Congress, or NDC.
He also said that Joshua Obika, who represents the Federal Capital Territory's AMAC/Bwari Federal Constituency, has defected from the APC to the NDC.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), all of the impacted members explained their defections by citing internal conflicts and unpredictability inside their former party.
