Nigerians are eagerly awaiting the start of a Federal High Court hearing in Abuja about former President Goodluck Jonathan's ability to run in the 2027 presidential election.

According to the DAILY POST, Jonathan is scheduled to personally appear in court on Friday as the case proceeds.

The announcement was made just 24 hours after the former president said in an Abuja speech on Thursday that he will run for president in the upcoming 2027 election.

After a group of fans marched to Jonathan's home and persuaded him to run for president, he made these remarks.

In response, the former president emphasized the need of peace, patriotism, and legitimate elections in Nigeria.

"I heard you, and I will consult widely, but the presidential race is not a computer game," Jonathan remarked.

The DAILY POST saw a video that was uploaded online on Friday indicating that the court's session was scheduled to start.
