The All Progressives Congress in Abia State has rejected rumors that Benjamin Kalu, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, supported Governor Alex Otti for a second term, calling them "misleading, malicious, and deceptive propaganda."

The APC claimed the accusation was being spread by the governor's media team and was intended to confuse the public in a statement released on Friday by Uche Aguoru, the party's publicity secretary.

"A misleading, malicious, and deceptive propaganda being circulated across various media platforms by Governor Alex Otti's media team has caught the attention of the APC in Abia State," the statement said.

It further stated that the assertion that Kalu had supported Otti was wholly untrue and ought to be ignored.

The APC declared, "We wish to unequivocally state that Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu has never, at any time, either publicly or privately, endorsed Governor Alex Otti for a second term in office, for the benefit of unsuspecting members of the public who may be misled by these desperate falsehoods."

The party reiterated Kalu's status as a crucial member of the APC's Abia State hierarchy and characterized him as a devoted member of the party.

It stated, "Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu remains the undisputed leader of the APC in Abia State, as well as a loyal, devoted, and dedicated party man."

The statement also emphasized the Deputy Speaker's continued commitment to boosting the party's prospects in advance of the general elections in 2027.

It said, "On the contrary, the Deputy Speaker has remained steadfast and fully committed to the mission of ensuring that the All Progressives Congress wins all elective positions in Abia State and takes over Government House, Umuahia, come May 29, 2027."

Additionally, the APC accused the state's present administration of using false information and propaganda.

It further asserted that the party's determination to topple the Labour Party government is unwavering.

"In light of what many Abians consider to be the mismanagement of the state across critical sectors of governance, his determination to ensure that the Labour Party administration in Abia State is voted out remains strong, consistent, and unwavering," it continued.

Before the next election cycle, the APC urged the state's citizens to stick with the party.

The statement ended, "We urge Abians to remain steadfast, united, and committed in their support for the APC as the party continues in its quest to offer a credible alternative and a better future for the people of Abia State."
