The acting chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers in Osun State, Kazeem Oyewale, has strongly denied claims that he was involved in an attempt on the life of the Osun State governor's son, Adebayo Adeleke, popularly known as B-Red.

The state government, through a statement by the Commissioner for Information, Kolapo Alimi, had alleged that B-Red narrowly escaped an assassination attempt and attributed the incident to hoodlums allegedly operating under the direction of Oyewale, who is also known by the alias Asiri Eniba.

Alimi stated that the incident took place in the Oke-Fia area, located a short distance from the Osun Government House.

Responding to the allegations during a press interaction in Osogbo on Monday, Oyewale dismissed the government's claims as false and threatened to seek legal redress in court.

The APC chieftain in Osun State also called on President Bola Tinubu and the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, to intervene and protect him and his associates from what he described as continued harassment by state government officials.

Oyewale appealed directly to President Tinubu, the Inspector-General of Police, and the Nigerian public to come to his defence, alleging that the governor and the Commissioner for Information, Kolapo Alimi, had called for his arrest based on what he described as fabricated allegations, and were actively threatening him.

He also made a disturbing claim that those he believes are targeting him were responsible for the killing of his younger brother in November 2022, adding that the deceased's remains have yet to be released to the family.

He suggested that the current accusations against him are politically motivated, describing them as part of a pattern that tends to resurface during election cycles in Osun State.

Oyewale insisted that the allegations against him, including the claim that he plotted to kill the governor's son and that he was behind the destruction of billboards, are entirely baseless and incapable of being substantiated.

He questioned the logic of such accusations, noting that as an APC member, he has no stake in the internal affairs of the Accord party, and argued that it made no sense for him to be blamed whenever something went wrong within that party.

He also reassured his followers and supporters, urging them not to be intimidated, and drew a parallel with what he described as the indiscriminate arrest of NURTW members during the 2022 election period. He vowed that such tactics would not succeed this time around, characterizing the current allegations as a deliberate campaign to damage his reputation.
