Actress Shine Rosman has raised serious concerns about what she describes as the dangerous normalization of s+xual har+ssment in Nigeria, particularly in public spaces across Lagos.

Speaking during an interview with Tolu Afilaka, Rosman argued that har+ssment has become so commonplace that it is frequently dismissed or treated as an unremarkable occurrence, especially in high-traffic areas like Yaba.

She pointed to the absence of accountability and raised questions about the safety of women in the country, warning that public inaction could embolden more serious forms of abuse in private settings.

The actress described the situation in Yaba as particularly troubling, noting that women are routinely touched inappropriately in public spaces while bystanders and authorities look the other way.

She questioned what recourse women have if the government fails to take meaningful action, and suggested that self-defense may become a necessary consideration in the absence of institutional protection.

Rosman also expressed frustration that s+xual har+ssment continues to be treated as a minor issue in 2026, describing it as one of the most passively regarded problems in Nigerian society.

She further warned that allowing such behavior to go unchecked sends a dangerous signal arguing that a man who feels comfortable s+xually har+ssing a woman openly in broad daylight poses an even greater threat in private settings where there are no witnesses.

Her remarks have drawn attention to the broader, ongoing conversation about women's safety and the need for stronger enforcement of laws against s+xual har+ssment in Nigeria.
