Blessing CEO, the self-styled relationship commentator known for her controversial public statements, has spoken out following the death of Nollywood actor Alex Ekubo, who passed away in a Lagos hospital on Monday after a private battle with stage 4 liver cancer.

In an emotional tribute shared on her Instagram page alongside a photo of the late actor, she expressed grief over his passing, lamenting that he had fought his illness quietly and out of public view.

Her reaction, however, drew attention partly because of her own recent and highly contentious cancer claims. In March 2026, Blessing CEO had appealed to the public for financial assistance to fund chemotherapy for what she described as stage 4 breast cancer.

The claim quickly unravelled when the Nigerian Medical Association's Delta State chapter alleged that a medical report she presented to support her story had been tampered with, suggesting it was actually another patient's record from Xinus Medical Diagnostics, bearing the signature of consultant pathologist Dr. O.A. Odigwe.

The fallout from those allegations prompted social media activist VeryDarkMan to file a petition that was subsequently approved by the Inspector-General of Police, calling for a formal investigation into the matter.
