An Abuja-based pastor, Amos Isah, who founded the Prophetic Victory Voice of Fire Ministry, is standing trial on allegations that he raped a 14-year-old member of his congregation in May 2025.
He is accused of luring the teenager to the church auditorium under false pretenses before assaulting her and threatening her family to keep them silent.
The case has drawn public attention partly due to a 53-second video that surfaced showing the pastor at the victim's home, apparently seeking forgiveness a visit that came after he had missed a scheduled court hearing.
The trial, which had been delayed for several months, is set to resume on May 14 at the FCT High Court in Gwarinpa.
Members of the community have rallied around the teenage girl, describing her as an innocent child and expressing concern that the pastor's visit to her home could be an attempt to pressure the family into settling the matter outside of court.
Many have been vocal in insisting that a case of this nature must be allowed to run its full legal course rather than being resolved through informal negotiations.
